Manipulating Images

We often need to manipulate images, but hardly anything is ever the same from one job to the next. Here are a few examples of the kinds of needs that arise from time to time.

This is the original image from a heavily-stained issue of the New York Illustrated News, 1859.
And here is the cleaned image of a middle-aged Cornelius Vanderbilt.

In this example, our client wanted claim boundaries overlain in perspective on the base photo of an open pit mine. We first fitted a topographic map to the claims, pits, and boundaries in AutoCad. Next we used Corel Draw to adjust perspectives and then added text and transparent gradients. Finally we converted the image in Photoshop for use on the client's web site.

One of our most common tasks is grabbing logos from business cards and letterhead to use on client's maps and illustrations. Here was an original logo from a business card printed on heavily-fibered card stock. Below is the logo cleaned up and brightened for use in other applications.
